Get the BIG picture!

We are very excited to be the first and only optician in Redhill to be able to provide optomap.

An Optomap® using Optos® Daytona literally gives you a 200° field of view of your retina. This is massive compared to 45° using traditional retinal photography. Retinal photography is dated. This technology has been around for decades, started with film then digital but the principles are the same. It is good but with limitations compared to current technology.

To give you a perspective, the picture also shows the difference compared to a normal fundus camera, we can get 5 times more the back of the eye compared to conventional cameras/methods.

As well as giving you an ultra-widefield scan of your retina, Daytona is also able to perform a medical imaging technique called autofluorescence imaging of your retina.

Autofluorescence imaging is relatively new in eye care. Few NHS hospitals are able to perform this type of imaging but here at Redhill Opticians, we can!.

Combined with its ultra-widefield capability, Optos® Daytona is Unique to eye care.

We want to offer our patients the best standard in Eyecare possible!

Dry Eyes

Dry Eye Disease is a common condition affecting people of all ages. It occurs when your eyes do not make enough tears, or the tears produced are of a poor quality therefore unable to keep the surface of the eye sufficiently lubricated.

The common symptoms of dry eye are itchiness, redness and irritation. It is a chronic and progressive disease meaning proper diagnosis and management is necessary to address it.

Dry Eye Disease can be expertly diagnosed and managed by our Optometrist with regular and timely check-ups.

Who will test my eyes?

Our ophthalmic opticians are fully qualified and registered with the General Optical Council. They provide a thorough eye examination, ensuring that your eyes are healthy and you have optimum vision.

Our sight testing also looks for early signs of potential health problems such as high blood pressure, glaucoma, diabetes and cataracts.

Regular examinations are important since your eyes can provide a ‘window’ to your general health. The whole family can benefit from regular eye examinations and we strongly recommend this – regardless of the need for vision correction.

Our eye care professionals will also advise you on how frequently your eyes should be tested.

Children's Eye Tests

Children hardly ever complain about their eyes. However, you can pick up signs from their behaviour.

Some of this may be that they are sitting too close to the TV, rubbing their eyes a lot, holding objects very close to their faces or blinking a lot.

If you are worried, or curious, just give us a call and book them in for an eye test.

If there is a history of squint or lazy eye in the family, don’t just wait for the vision screening at school. The earlier we pick any potential problems up, the better the outcome. Children don’t have to be able to read for the sight test, we can detect most, if any problems using age appropriate tests and equipment.

Eye tests are painless. We may need to put drops in your child’s eyes to check that the back of the eye is healthy, but rest assured, this will always be discussed in advance.
